Do you know the first Indian who got this award? Famous English writer Dhan Gopal Mukerji, who wrote books for children, got this award. Not only that he also, the first Indian who got popularity worldwide. He got this award in the year 1928 for the books ‘Gey neck, the Story of a Pigeon’ written by him. He was born on 6th July 1890 in Kajangal village near Calcutta. He had studied higher studies in Calcutta, Tokyo, California, Berkeley and Stanford Universities. He had maintained relationships with Communist nobles, writers and National Movement leaders.
